(3 Minutes Read)Chevron Corporation has formally entered the Libyan energy market through its subsidiary, Chevron Business Development EMEA, after being named a winning bidder in Libya’s 2025 Bid Round. On February 11, 2026, Chevron was awarded Contract Area 106, an onshore block located in the prolific Sirte Basin, as part of Libya’s competitive 2025 licensing round. Prior to the award, Chevron had signed a separate MoU with the NOC on January 24, 2026, in Tripoli. “Chevron is excited to enter Libya with the award of onshore Contract Area 106, which underscores our focus on North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean region,” he said. In addition, Chevron signed an MoU in Syria in February, further reinforcing its strategic push to expand its regional footprint.
