Last September, Ms Onwurah presented a petition on behalf of 21,000 Newcastle United fans calling for greater transparency from the Premier League following the collapse of the club's takeover. Commenting on that petition, last year, Mr Dowden said it was 'crucial that fans’ views and perspectives are listened to'. "That breakaway attempt was stopped not by the Premier League, or by politicians but by football fans as a whole. They did not do so in order to concentrate more unaccountable power in the hands of the Premier League. As previously mentioned, Ms Onwurah has also written to Masters, the Premier League's chief executive, once again.
