A young girl was murdered in the city of Dikirnis, Daqahliya governorate following an attempted rape, caused widespread outrage amongst civilians who demanded to take justice into their own hands. The suspect had lured Razek into his home and attempted to rape her, killing her after she resisted in fear that his crime would be revealed. Criminal investigation officers moved to the scene of the incident, where they located the victim’s body next to the murder weapons. The crowd attempted to storm the house even after security forces imposed a security cordon, forcing them to fire tear gas in an attempt to disperse the mob. Hours after the victim’s autopsy, the coroner’s report revealed that no sexual intercourse had occurred but there was evidence the suspect had attempted to rape her.
