Chinese officials to inspect banana plantations in MindanaoBy Antonio L. Colina IVDavao City – Quarantine personnel from China will visit Mindanao next month to inspect banana plantations here, an official of the Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association (PBGEA) said Tuesday. “The Chinese government will not entertain private entities. Mamaril said that he was confident that PBGEA members will be able to pass the phytosanitary standards of the Chinese, which is the fourth biggest buyer of Philippine bananas. “It’s a good thing you can see first-hand how the bananas are packed,” he said. “We cannot just let the banana industry die because Mindanao cannot be Mindanao without the bananas,” he said.
