The UK’s four governments are meeting this afternoon to agree a UK-wide suspension of the rules over the festive break. But Transport Secretary Grant Shapps today warned there could be a “problem” if everyone tries to get trains in the short window. It is thought travel will be a specific part of any Christmas plan announced this week. Mr Shapps added that he is in "close contact" with transport leaders of the devolved governments to make Christmas travel plans, which he expects will be finalised "later this week". Network Rail said there will be a "significantly reduced service" at the UK's busiest railway station - London Waterloo - between Christmas Day and January 3.
