Citi bringing back warrants to market

Citigroup Global Markets Asia will relaunch its CitiFirst warrant products on Hong Kong's stock exchange after leaving the market in 2018 and plans to introduce more structured finance products this year. The broker has issued 39 warrant products in the Hong Kong market, covering major large-cap stocks including HSBC Holdings (0005), Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (0388), Tencent (0700), AIA (1299), Ping An Insurance (2318), Xiaomi (1810), Meituan Dianping (3690) and Alibaba (9988). Citigroup said it intends to roll out more structured products including callable bull or bear contracts this year. Horace Chow, vice president of cross-asset listed distribution sales at Societe Generale, previously expected the number of warrants and CBBCs on Chinese internet giants listed in Hong Kong to surge by 70 percent this year, and the turnover in the CBBC market to hit a new high this year to around HK$2.3 trillion.
