The way Colin Corkery sees it, Steven Sherlock mightn’t have returned to the Cork panel but for the new rules. Before the new rules, Sherlock and Hurley were like ships in the night. Last Sunday week’s win over Louth was the first league game since Cork put up 6-28 against Limerick in February 2023 that the pair started alongside each other. The following season, Sherlock replaced Hurley in all seven league games. He came off the bench in the first four championship games before starting for injured Hurley against Tyrone.
