Congress Member of Parliament Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy urged Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy to order a comprehensive investigation into all tenders executed by the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) from 2014 to date, citing the need to protect transparency and public interest in the prestigious public sector undertaking. In a letter addressed to the Union Minister, he welcomed the Centre’s swift response to the controversy surrounding the Naini coal block, particularly the constitution of a two-member inquiry committee. However, he cautioned against limiting the probe only to the cancellation of the Naini coal block tender. The MP demanded that the inquiry be expanded to cover all tenders, contracts, and official decisions taken in Singareni over the past decade, including those finalised during the previous government’s tenure, as well as tender processes currently under way. Only a comprehensive investigation would restore public confidence and ensure fairness in the PSUs' operations, he said.
