Think of me as the federal budget version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller. I see three areas where Republican budgeting and economic policymaking have seemed almost criminal this year. MalpracticeAs I first noted several weeks ago in this post, what I call the "Trump Family and Friends Tax Cut" now in conference between the House and Senate is the wrong fiscal policy at the absolute wrong time. It may be good politics (and recent polls show even that's not certain), but it's definitely not smart economics. That's the procedure the Congressional Budget Act put in place 43 years ago.
