Some have arranged for their loved one's bodies to be stored at funeral homes until the alert levels allow for funerals to take place. Bloomfield recognised the "huge impact" that has had on family and friends, as well as those who are dying. Ardern also said officials planned to issue more detailed information around what each alert level would look like in the coming days.
