The Department of Government Information confirms that 227 more persons linked to the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster have tested positive for Covid-19 today (08). Reports revealed that all of them are close contacts of earlier positive cases. Thereby, the total number of Covid-19 infections registered by the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster reached 10,447 while Sri Lanka’s daily cases count hit 510. With the new development, Sri Lanka has confirmed 13,929 novel coronavirus infections to date. The Epidemiology Unit says 5,609 active cases are still receiving medical treatment at selected hospitals across the island.
