Corpse plant may drop big stink in DunedinLAWRENCE SMITH/STUFF The corpse flower (Amorphophallus titanum) comes to life in Auckland's Wintergarden in 2015. A giant flower with a bouquet of rotting flesh may bloom in Dunedin in the new year. The giant Amorphophallus titanum, known as the "corpse flower", produces the world's largest flower and famously smells like rotting flesh when it blooms. Bishop said the corpse flower plant could grow 10 centimetres a day, but the flower was expected to last only a few days. The Amorphophallus titanum originates in the rainforests of Sumatra in Indonesia.
