In a meeting, the committee was informed that cotton production in 2021-22 was expected to be 8.4 million bales from an area of 1.9 million hectares, showing an increase of 19.8% in production over the previous year. Sugarcane output was estimated at 87.67 million tons from an area of 1.27 million hectares, an increase of 8.2% and 8.7% in production and area respectively over the previous year. Similarly, rice production was estimated at 8.84 million tons from an area of 3.5 million hectares, a rise of 5% in production and 5.8% in area. Likewise, the production target for gram had been fixed at 559,000 tons, potato at 6.028 million tons, onion at 2.421 million tons and tomato at 621,000 tons.
