Although the United States has still not implemented national digital voting, the idea no longer seems absurd or unlikely. The Wall Street Journal and Wired have both expressed interest in ways that digital technology might facilitate and accelerate democratic processes. Today’s LandscapeIt’s important to ask if the world is otherwise entirely prepared for digital voting. Genuine concerns about digital voting persist, and no projects should move forward until these are thoroughly addressed. Because of the United States’ influence abroad, digital elections would be a major target for state hacking.
