The striking out application filed by Abu Bekir, former Cahya Mata Sarawak chief information officer Karl Vink @ Khalid Abdullah, Vienna Advantage GmbH (VAG) managing director Atul Dua, former Cahya Mata Intelligent Technologies Sdn Bhd (CMIT) senior general manager Izzul Abdul Kamar, VAG and Vienna Advantage Asia Sdn Bhd was dismissed by the High Court on Wednesday, according to Cahya Mata Sarawak. The suit was initiated by Cahya Mata Sarawak and its unit CMIT a year ago against the six defendants over breach of trust and fiduciary duties related to a failed ERP system. The project, which aimed to overhaul the Cahya Mata group's various information technology systems into a unified ERP platform, was awarded to VAG in July 2019. Abu Bekir and Vink each own separate 30% stakes in Vienna Advantage Asia, while VAG holds the remainder, according to a check with the Companies Commission Malaysia. The duo were previously subject to an independent review by Cahya Mata Sarawak into allegations of possible financial mismanagement in relation to the company’s investments and operations in 2021.
