The UK will launch an independent inquiry into the government's response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The UK is one of the worst-hit countries, and currently has about 127 000 Covid-19-related deaths since March 2020. A full, independent public inquiry into the British government's handling of its response to the Covid-19 pandemic will be held early next year, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday. Johnson's former top aide Dominic Cummings has publicly called into question his ex-boss' judgement at key moments during the pandemic. He is due to give evidence to a separate parliamentary inquiry into the government's Covid response later this month.
