KOLAR: Ran Between Kolar And BangarpetThe journey of the state's only operational railbus, which plied between Kolar and Bangarpet, came to an end on Saturday . Built by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), it boasted 72 seats and was among the last few railbuses operating across the country . Passengers travelling to Kolar generally boarded an express train to Bangarpet Station , before switching to the railbus that ferried them to Kolar, 18km away . Protesting against the move, a people's movement under the leadership of Vatal Nagraj was launched, demanding resumption of train services in the district. It proved very useful for many commuters, who travelled comfortably on the 72-seat vehicle," he said.The station master at Kolar railway station, Ambarish said that the 1996-manufactured railbus often needed repairs.
