Prescott suffered a compound fracture and dislocation in his ankle, becoming the latest star to suffer a serious injury in an epidemic that has removed some of the NFL’s highest-profile players just five weeks into the season. Before Prescott, arguably the game’s two best running backs—the Carolina Panthers’ Christian McCaffrey and the New York Giants’ Saquon Barkley—had gone down this season. Prescott’s injury was a particularly grisly sight to anyone who watched him get tackled during Dallas’s game against the New York Giants Sunday. It was harsh both because of the nature of the injury and how Prescott had been playing to start the year.
