"On Sundays, I make sure that children and women living in places such as JJ clusters, get proper education. I also educate them about things like table manners, English-speaking and body language basics," said Chanu, who had been a finalist in Mrs India Earth 2018. Chanu had taken part in the beauty pageant in 2018 but feared that her colleagues might not approve of her decision. For her dedication towards social service, Chanu credits her police training and her background in NCC, which taught her the importance of empathy.
