Early on Sunday morning, Delta Air Lines took delivery of the world's first Airbus A350 to be operated by a U.S commercial air carrier. In receiving the A350, Delta will soon become the first U.S. legacy carrier to operate the next-generation aircraft. Like other carriers, Delta plans to use its A350 fleet for long haul flights. The aircraft received this past weekend is slated to eventually enter service on a route between Detroit and Tokyo. In total, Delta Air Lines has 25 Airbus A350s on order, while American and United have 22 and 35 respectively.
