A Staff ReporterSalt Lake: The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation has decided to divide the area under its control into three zones as part of its strategy to combat dengue this year. The area under the civic body, which includes Salt Lake and its adjoining areas and parts of Rajarhat, will be split into three zones - red, yellow and grey - on the basis of the spread of the disease. "The wards that will report the maximum number of dengue cases will fall under the red category," a civic official said. "Till now, the planned areas of Salt Lake are in the green zone as no cases of dengue have been reported from there this year," mayor Sabyasachi Dutta said. The bills, passed by the Assembly, also seek to empower the municipal commissioners to order the destruction of mosquito-breeding sites and recover the cost from the owners.
