Dhakuria: A ban on goods vehicles and more policemen ensured traffic moved smoothly on Dhakuria bridge on Monday and buses didn't need to take a detour. Police had planned a diversion for buses since a fourth of the road space has been cordoned off for the repairs. The bridge's expansion joints are being replaced. The joints help absorb the expansion and contraction of part during temperature change. Diversions won't be there on Tuesday if there are no snarls.
