Patna: Disciplinary action has been initiated against five police personnel for dereliction of duty during a gun battle with liquor mafia in Samastipur district. A havildar was killed and another police official suffered bullet injuries in the shootout on November 29 this year. "Disciplinary action will be taken against more policemen if their laxity comes to the fore in future," he said, adding that investigation was still on to ascertain the identity of the liquor smugglers involved in the attack. While the station house officer (SHO) of Sarairanjan police station Manoj Kumar suffered injuries, BMP havildar Anil Kumar was killed in the gunfire during the operation. "Instructions have been issued all the SHOs to take precautionary measures during raid against liquor smugglers," he added.
