Workers at the nationalised Ferguson Marine shipyard have been urged to increase their work rate "considerably" or one of the much-delayed ferries will be delayed even further. Ferguson Marine was bought out of administration by the SNP government so that the construction of two vessels could be completed. They wrote: "We have raised our concerns about this ambitious target given the lack of progress on this vessel, given the resources are being focused on MVGS [Glen Sannox]." Extra staircases will have to be installed on the Glen Sannox, meaning that it will probably not be ready for next year's summer season in Arran and Ardrossan.
