Silicon Valley woke up on Friday. After years of blithely allowing hatred, misinformation and propaganda to course through their services and spew into the world, the tech giants made a flurry of stunning moves to get rid of some of the most dangerous elements, which, in their estimation, included the president of the United States. The catalysing event, of course, was the attack on the US Capitol building, perpetrated by a mob the president whipped up with unfounded allegations that the election had been “stolen”.
