PRESIDENT Rodrigo DutertePRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has authorized the grant of a P500-hazard pay to government workers who physically reported to work in areas under enhanced community quarantine and modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ). Administrative Order 43 signed by Duterte on June 1 amended Administrative Order 26 issued in March last year, which said that hazard pay should only be granted to those who physically reported working during the ECQ period. The order states that the hazard pay, which will cover regular, contractual and job order workers in government agencies, state universities and colleges and government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs), should not exceed P500 per day. The funding for the hazard pay shall be sourced from the operating budgets of said institutions for the current fiscal year. "Should a GOCC have insufficient funds to fully cover the Covid-19 hazard pay at P500 per day per person, a lower but uniform rate may be granted for all qualified personnel," the order stated.
