Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-CarpioDAVAO CITY: Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has requested the regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to place the city under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from June 5 to June 30 amid the surge in Covid-19 cases. In her letter, Duterte-Carpio asked the IATF-EID to place the city under MECQ to curb the increase of patients in hospitals. She emphasized that during the MECQ period, all public transportation shall be permitted to operate. "We need to help frontliners by making sure we stay home except for work or business," Duterte-Carpio said. Under MECQ, travel is limited to accessing essential goods and for those working in permitted establishments.
