The Trade and Industrialisation ministry unveiled a policy that seeks to regulate retail business, which among others, obliges supermarkets to disclose information on their operations and avoid unethical practices. The policy sets the framework for monitoring large retail business to push them to conduct themselves decently. Thus, the new trade policy comes at an opportune moment and hopefully will help create order in the retail business. They must foster rather than stifle retail trade. Given our circumstances, the policy is appropriate to cure the prevailing ailments in the retail sector.
