Dom Bess has been called into England’s Test squad for the second Test against New Zealand at Edgbaston on Thursday. The Yorkshire spinner travelled to Birmingham yesterday evening and will spend 48 hours in isolation before being able to train with the rest of the squad on Wednesday. Bess, 24, is unlikely to play in the match but has been called up as cover in case of an injury to Jack Leach, who did not play in the first Test draw after England picked an all seam attack, but is presently the only specialist spinner in the squad. It is expected that Leach will come into the team for the second Test as England like to have injury cover for every position within their squad
