Everton face threat of further punishment after 10-point deduction

The Merseyside club are already reeling from their initial 10-point deduction for a breach of its profitability and sustainability rules in the period ending in the 2021-22 season. The rules allow clubs to lose a maximum of £105million over three years or face sanctions, with a commission ruling Everton were £19.5m beyond that limit. Everton have strenuously denied the initial allegations, saying they have worked with the Premier League for several months on the issue and intend to appeal the ruling. Everton may also have to deal with the potential of a lawsuit from former Premier League clubs who were relegated during Everton’s years of overspending.
