Everton could take a step closer to completing a deal for Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes today. Carlo Ancelotti and Marcel Brands will meet to discuss their January transfer plans as they plot a way of turning the season around. Everton have been keeping a close eye on 20-year-old Fernandes, who has struggled for game time in recent months. According to the Athletic, the Toffees are closing in on an 18-month loan deal with a £34million permanent option. Ancelotti is expected to be strongly backed in the January window after he signed a blockbuster deal at Goodison Park to replace Marco Silva.
