The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced that it will suspend all flights in and out of El Paso, Texas, for the next 10 days, citing “special security reasons” under new temporary flight restrictions that also cover nearby Santa Teresa, New Mexico. According to an FAA notice, no aircraft operations will be allowed beginning early Wednesday within a 10 nautical mile radius of El Paso Airport, from the ground up to 17,999 feet. El Paso Airport authorities told ABC News in a statement, “The FAA, on short notice, issued a temporary flight restriction halting all flights to and from El Paso and our neighboring community, Santa Teresa, NM. El Paso is home to one of the largest cargo facilities near the US-Mexico border, meaning the suspension could also affect shipments. The move comes as the FAA suspends El Paso flights for 10 days over “special security reasons,” raising concerns about travel and trade disruptions in the region.
