FCA To Recall More Than 860,000 Vehicles Violating Emissions Rules

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will voluntarily recall more than 860-thousand vehicles in the United States because they do not meet federal emissions standards due to a problem with their catalytic converters. “EPA welcomes the action by Fiat Chrysler to voluntarily recall its vehicles that do not meet U.S. emissions standards,” said EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler in a statement. The agency says about 50-thousand of the vehicles affected by the recall are in California. The case led to more aggressive enforcement by the EPA of U.S. emission regulations, which ensnared FCA in its own cheating allegations. In response to claims by the U.S. Justice Department and state of California that it cheated on diesel emissions tests, FCA reached a settlement of about $800 million dollar in January.
