Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed during a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi the importance of continuing the track of negotiations between the American and Iranian sides, with a view to reaching a peaceful and consensual settlement that addresses the concerns of all parties, based on mutual respect and shared interests. The phone call came within the framework of efforts aimed at de-escalation and containing tensions in the region. The top diplomat stressed the need to move beyond any differences during this sensitive phase, underscoring that dialogue remains the primary option to avert any escalation in the region. For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister commended—during the call—Egypt’s active role and its intensive efforts to reduce escalation and contain tensions in the region, as well as its endeavors to reach understandings regarding the Iranian nuclear file. The Iranian minister also briefed Abdelatty on developments related to the recent round of negotiations between the United States and Iran hosted by the sisterly Sultanate of Oman.
