A screenshot of an article on CNN’s homepage titled “Burning Man attendees unable to leave desert, resort to cannibalism” is fabricated, a spokesperson for the outlet said. “Burning Man festival turns into Cannibalism festival? #CNN #burningman,” reads a post sharing a collage featuring the fabricated CNN headline on Facebook (bit.ly/44ORGHT). “This image is fabricated and not something that appeared on the CNN.com homepage,” Emily Kuhn, a CNN spokesperson, said in an email to Reuters. CNN did not report on cannibalism at the 2023 Burning Man festival.
