Fairer oil pricing vowed

(Photo: Chanat Katanyu)Energy Minister Akanat Promphan has pledged to overhaul the country's refinery margin mechanism to ensure fairer pricing for consumers. "If the margin can be reduced, the benefit should go directly to consumers through lower fuel prices. Refinery margin is the gap between crude oil prices and refined fuel prices. He also warned those who stockpile fuel for speculative gain, saying oil prices do not move in one direction and that policy changes could lead to price corrections. He said this would increase supply and could reduce fuel prices by 7-10 baht per litre.
