Prisoners’ relatives, lawyers and elected officials on Sunday lambasted conditions at a federal jail in Brooklyn, saying many inmates had spent days locked nearly around the clock in cold, dark cells because of heating problems and a lack of electricity. Lawyers said many prisoners have been suffering from deplorable conditions since an electrical fire partially cut off power at the Metropolitan Detention Center a week ago. Several said they were particularly worried about inmates with medical conditions.
