Emigration saved many lives during the Great Famine yet it is not widely available to modern-day famine victims, according to leading academic Dr Cormac Ó Gráda. He is one of several speakers appearing in a two-part series called The Hunger: The Story of the Irish Famine, which is narrated by Liam Neeson and begins tomorrow on RTÉ One television. "Today, Syrian refugees have tried to enter Europe and a lot of countries stopped them from getting in.
