MiraflorA company is proposing a P10-billion optimization project that aims to tap some of Angat’s irrigation water for household use, a move that is backed by Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS). In an interview, ITP-Maharlika Bulk Water Company President Orville Roque said the project targets to tap the excess water from the tail water releases of the Angat Hydroelectric Power Plant (AHEPP) and make it as a source of additional water supply for Metro Manila. For his part, MWSS Administrator Reynaldo Velasco said he will wait for ITP-Maharlika Bulk Water Company to submit the feasibility study for the project so they could approve it and endorse it to NEDA. Once finished, ITP-Maharlika Bulk Water Company aims to sell and supply the water that it will be tapped to concessionaires like Maynilad Water Services, Inc. and Manila Water Company through the MWSS.
