Five clusters of unvaccinated Americans could be putting the entire country at risk of future COVID-19 surges, a new analysis finds. But vaccination rates vary drastically by state - and even more drastically by county. Among those 30 clusters, Bansal and her colleagues identified five that are particularly vulnerable - and pose a particularly high risk. Together, the five high-concern clusters include over 15 million people - of whom only 28 percent are fully vaccinated. While the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines all work well against this variant, unvaccinated Americans remain extremely vulnerable.
