Burnley’s pre-season friendly against Hanover was abandoned on police advice at Turf Moor. The Premier League club were leading 1-0 at half-time thanks to a goal from Ben Mee when the game was called off. Hooligans claiming to support the Bundesliga side broke seats and threw them at Burnley fans housed in the same stand and had to be stopped by police, who were forced to draw their truncheons, from attacking the home supporters.
