Former Alberta Premier Alison Redford will head a team of consultants in a review of oil giant Exxon Mobil's proposed Payara oil well in the South American country of Guyana, the country's natural resources ministry announced in a statement on Saturday. Earlier this year, Exxon Mobil increased its estimated recoverable resource base in the country to more than eight billion oil-equivalent barrels. Redford's roleAccording to the ministry, Redford will head a team of "technical experts" to assess the progress of Exxon Mobil's Payara contract. Guyana is the most exciting thing out there now in oil and gas, and we can afford to hire the best. Redford was the 14th premier of Alberta, serving from 2011 until 2014.
