Be it the civilisational pride or anti-colonial struggle, non-aligned movement or friendship between the leaders of the two countries, India and Egypt together share several happy stories. Prime Minister Modi’s state visit to Egypt was the first one by any Indian PM since 1997. Like true friends, both the states were confident of taking the ties forward whenever they hosted each others’ leaders. “This is a very quick, reciprocal visit coming just within six months of President Sisi’s visit to India. India sent over 60,000 metric tonnes of wheat to Egypt when it was facing an acute wheat crisis.
