When contacted, Awami League candidate from Dhaka 3 constituency Nasrul Hamid said the incident occurred when an Awami League procession was passing by Gayeshwar Chandra Roy's campaign rally. "When the two rallies were passing by each other, some BNP supporters began throwing stones at the Awami League supporters, and the Awami League supporters retaliated by throwing stones in return. One of the stones hit Gayeshwar Chandra Roy in the head," Nasrul said. "I have never faced such a situation in previous elections," the Awami League leader said.
