General Legal Council sued over Ghana Law Society accreditation


General News of Wednesday, 28 January 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comA private citizen, Yaw Aning Boadu, has sued the General Legal Council, Registrar of Companies, and the Ghana Law Society over the recent accreditation of the latter to license lawyers. Yaw Aning Boadu, who is said to be a senior lawyer, contends that the accreditation was illegal because the Ghana Law Society has not met the requirement to be recognised as a professional body in the country. An order directed at the 2nd Defendant to expunge the 1st Defendant from the Register of Professional Bodies. c. An order directed at the 3rd Defendant to withdraw and expunge any purported accreditation, approval, or recognition granted to the 1st Defendant. d. A perpetual injunction restraining the 1st Defendant, its executives, and members from holding themselves out as a registered or accredited professional body of lawyers.
