The United States had only days ago engaged in a massive military strike against Venezuela. This partnership is important because Chancellor Merz picked India as his first Asian destination since he assumed office. Chancellor Merz has likened the present world situation as one that is challenged by rough winds of instability. Although his open statements addressed terrorism, the situation in the Venezuela strike was evident to the audience. Other than the immediate crisis, the visit was also aimed at enhancing the defence relationship between India and Germany.
