Labour leader Mr Starmer called for a rescue deal to stem the tide of redundancies unveiled across the industry. Mr Starmer said: “Labour called for and welcomed the furlough scheme, but it is a not a long-term solution to the oncoming jobs crisis. “The Government must take these exceptional circumstances into account and join the cross-party support for our call for a longer-term Job Retention Scheme to protect jobs within the aviation industry. It believes it will take the industry two years to return to pre-pandemic levels.
