Ahmed Rostom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, met with Chitose Noguchi, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Egypt, to explore opportunities for joint cooperation in energy, digital transformation, and data systems development in support of sustainable development. These include boosting private sector participation, strengthening fiscal discipline, and accelerating comprehensive economic development. During the meeting, Rostom emphasised that the government is addressing current challenges with clarity and decisiveness, stressing its commitment to adapting to geopolitical fluctuations in order to sustain economic momentum. Rostom added that the Ministry of Planning places strong emphasis on expanding the role of the private sector in infrastructure financing and entrepreneurship. For her part, Noguchi expressed UNDP’s appreciation for the Egyptian government’s strong commitment to advancing its reform agenda.
