The approval, granted to the Department of Urban Roads, follows the successful vetting of a proposal submitted for the project. The Ministry further directed that the implementation of the project must comply with the provisions of the Public Procurement Act 2003, as amended. The project is expected to improve traffic management and enhance road safety in the three towns, which have experienced increasing vehicular activity in recent years. Officials say the installation of the traffic lights forms part of broader efforts by government to modernise road infrastructure and reduce accidents across the country.
