ELECTION season is around the corner and hopeful candidates are making their aspirations known, citing commanding support and winnability, among others. To answer the question, let’s briefly consider what Parliament does and what an MP’s role is. This presupposes that the MP knows what issues matter to his constituents and how they feel about certain laws. I do not, however, expect an MP to develop his constituency, at least not directly. And finally, the MP needs to remember that he represents everyone in his constituency, not just those who voted for him.
